Idaho Drivers

I LOVE Idaho drivers! Coming from Utah where everyone drives 85 mph and 1″ from your bumper, it is so nice to be able to turn your blinker on and have someone actually let you into traffic. Shocking! Some would argue that Idaho drivers are awful – but it’s been a pleasant experience for me thus far, especially considering where I came from.

Idaho freeways have slower speed limits, it’s true. But I love the fact that I can get pretty much anywhere in town within 15-20 minutes. I will say that traffic can be pretty congested when traveling through the northern Meridian area during rush hour. The roads haven’t quite caught up with the growth of the city.

Here’s my request: don’t destroy the reputation that Idaho drivers are awesome. Be kind, use your blinker, don’t tailgate, don’t go 30 mph over the speed limit in town. I believe that one of the reasons people are drawn to Boise in the first place is the slower pace of life. Part of that pace is the driving. Download a great audiobook or find a good podcast and enjoy your time in the car with the slower pace that drew you here to begin with.

If you’re anything like me, you’d rather listen to local radio. That satellite, streaming, online thing isn’t really my thing. Unless of course, I’m on a road trip – then I’ll use Spotify or stuff I’ve downloaded on iTunes. Moving to Boise and finding stations that I liked was first on my list (well…maybe not…
